Ultra High Power Graphite Electrode/UHP
Ultra high-power graphite electrodes are mainly used in steel smelting process utilizing large capacity EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) and in LF(ladle refining furnace). The UHP electrodes are impregnated with special pitch in the furnace to increase their strength and density.The main function of the graphite electrode is to conduct electricity when the electric arc furnace smelts metal. Due to the increasing proportion of steel smelted by electric arc furnaces in the world, the use of electric arc furnaces to smelt steel plates and other secondary forming steels is the main item that consumes graphite electrodes. In addition, graphite electrodes are also used in smelting furnaces for melting non-ferrous metals, ceramics, and waste recycling industries.
Ultra-high power graphite electrodes must be produced with high-grade high-quality needle coke, and the graphitization heat treatment must be carried out in the inner series graphitization furnace, and the graphitization temperature is as high as 2800~3000°C; therefore, the resistivity is lower, allowing larger Current density, smaller coefficient of linear expansion, excellent thermal shock resistance.
Graphite electrodes with a current density greater than 25A/cm2 are allowed. Mainly used in ultra-high power steelmaking electric arc furnace
