Carburizers are divided into: petroleum coke carburizers, graphitized carburizers, natural graphite carburizers, metallurgical coke carburizers, calcined coal carburizers, natural graphite carburizers, and composite material carburizers.
The main differences between graphite recarburizers and coal recarburizers are:
1. The raw materials are different. Graphite recarburizer is processed by screening natural graphite, while coal recarburizer is calcined from anthracite;
Second, the characteristics are different. Graphite recarburizer has the advantages of low sulfur and nitrogen, high temperature resistance, good electrical conductivity, etc., which are not available in coal-based recarburizers;
Three, the absorption rate is different. The absorption rate of graphite recarburizer can reach more than 90%, so even if the carbon content of graphite recarburizer is not high, it can meet the requirements of use;
Fourth, the cost is different. Although the price of graphite recarburizer is relatively high, the comprehensive use cost is much lower.
The carburization of the carburizer is carried out by the dissolution and diffusion of carbon in the molten iron. Studies have shown that when the carbon content of the iron-carbon alloy is 2.1%, graphite recarburizers and non-graphite recarburizers perform equally due to physical wetting; but when the carbon content of molten iron is greater than 2.1%. , The graphite in the graphite recarburizer can be directly dissolved in the molten iron, and this phenomenon can be called direct dissolution. The direct dissolution phenomenon of non-graphite recarburizer hardly exists, but the carbon gradually diffuses and dissolves in the molten iron as time goes by. Therefore, the carbonation rate of graphite recarburizer is significantly higher than that of non-graphite recarburizer.
Questions to pay attention to when choosing a carburant:
1. Try to use high-temperature graphitization-treated recarburizers (the higher the treatment temperature, the better the graphitization effect), such as graphite electrodes or graphitized oil coke. Because a good recarburizer has a high absorption rate and a fast dissolution rate, it is beneficial to reduce energy consumption, and can effectively increase the nucleation core of molten iron and improve the metallurgical quality;
2. Select carburizers with low impurity elements such as sulfur and nitrogen. The nitrogen content of the recarburizer with high sulfur content is also high. When the nitrogen content of gray iron molten iron is higher than the equilibrium concentration, it is easy to produce crack-like nitrogen pores, and the ductile iron molten iron is prone to shrinkage defects in thick-walled parts, and the content of impurities is high. Increase the tendency of casting slag inclusion;
3. According to different furnace sizes, choosing the appropriate particle size of the recarburizer can effectively improve the absorption speed and rate of the carburant by the molten iron.
